9 month update!

Noah is 9 months!

He is HUGE...he weighs about 25 pounds and is very strong!

Noah has 8 teeth.

He pulls himself to stand and can walk holding onto tables, etc.  Noah is a crawling and standing maniac.

Noah started waving back at people when they wave.  It's not all the time but when he does it, I find it adorable!

Naps can be one 30 minute nap or two 40 minute ones or one 1-1.5 hour one during the day...your guess is as good as mine!  It's beyond frustrating that he has no consistency day to day.

Sleep at night can be 7-10 hours overnight.  There are nights he is still up a few times.  Some days he wakes up at 4am...other days, 5am.  Wayyy too early for our liking.  Our Noah appears not to need sleep.  I am so jealous when I see sleeping babies in strollers, etc.  Noah needs a bottle to go to sleep and a pitch black room...I don't know how the heck we will break that habit.

We love our crazy, high strung, extremely alert stinker.

I have the best brother & sister and Noah has the best aunty and uncle!

Mommy survived a week away!

I went on my Monday-Friday work trip last week.  I had such a great time and even got to sleep 8 hours/night without worrying if Noah would be up any minute.  I couldn't have had this trip without my amazing husband, wonderful sister, and sweet nanny.  They all went above and beyond to take care of Noah while I was away!

After traveling alone on the flight and remembering our plane ride with Noah, Nick and I decided we won't be traveling with Noah unless it is absolutely necessary (in other words...only if we have to move someday).  We will gladly pay for an overnight babysitter so that we can go on a trip child-free!

Here are some photos from my week away that I received via text:

Laughing baby

I love Noah's laugh...it is the highlight of our days!

Spring has finally arrived!

Spring has finally sprung in MN!  It's been a rainy one so far but when it's not raining, it has been beautiful.  Noah has been enjoying swinging at his nanny's house, playing in her sandbox, and going to the park with his Auntie Sari who is home for two weeks!  Yipee!!

I will be traveling for work Monday through Friday next week so I am very thankful Sari will be hope to help Nick with Noah.  Noah is quite the handful so having her here makes me feel much better about leaving.  Meanwhile, I can't wait to sleep 9 hours at night in a hotel!

Noah sporting my cousin's overalls from when he was a baby!  He is now in his mid-20s.  So cool to see Noah in them!

Mother's Day 2014

We were very fortunate to have a 3 day weekend this past weekend for Mother's Day. Nick, Noah, and I hung out at home and went to a friend's house Saturday night and to my parents' house Sunday for Mother's Day.  It was a peaceful and enjoyable weekend!  Next weekend, Auntie Sari comes home from Pharmacy school for 2 weeks before she moves to the east coast for her internship this summer.  We can't wait to have her home even if it's just for a short time.

Here are some recent photos of our little stinker:

We had to get rid of our kitchen stools because Noah kept pulling them over and/or getting stuck underneath them so we replaced them with a new shelf for Noah.

He is so over hats...

Noah just stares at Uncle Matt when he sees him.

Love his new shirt from great Aunt Jo-Jo!

We love getting photos at work from our nanny!

Notice the red bump on his forehead...Noah is way too mobile now and smacks his poor head on everything.

On formula feeding...

I've been wanting to write this post for awhile but never got around to it.  Before Noah, I felt like I had to breastfeed because it was the "right" thing to do according to everyone. Nick and I took a class on it and everything.  I still never felt 100% comfortable with the idea.  It just was something I never wanted to do...I only thought I had to because that's what everyone does.

Fast forward until when Noah was born...I tried nursing Noah a few times in the hospital (I don't even think they gave me the choice of formula) and he screamed and screamed. The nurses then had me try pumping and told me when I went home I needed to pump every 2 hours.  Um...NO.  When nothing was coming out in the hospital, they finally gave us formula but told me it would just be to supplement until I could get milk pumping. We went home and I tried pumping a few times but was so tired and annoyed with no milk at all coming out that I gave up.  Looking back, I probably could have gotten milk by pumping continuously or seeing a lactation consultant but if I am being honest with myself, my heart was never into nursing or pumping.

I am so thankful to have Nick who supports me 100% with my formula feeding choice and has never once complained about the cost or the fact that he also has to feed Noah. The cost of Noah's special formula is sickening but it doesn't phase us because 1. I chose to continue formula feeding instead of continuing to try to pump. 2. Noah needs food!

If we are blessed down the road with another child or children, I will formula feed from day one without question.  It took me 8 months to finally be OK with my decision and I will stand strong despite society's distaste for formula feeding.  It's OK to be different!

Noah's giggles

Our nanny sent us this video of Noah laughing at her dogs...he absolutely loves the dogs and plays with them all day over there!
